Compare the full cost of a family outing
Compare the cost for your group, not just the headline ticket price. A free activity across town can cost more than a nearby paid one once transport and food are included.
Start with admission
Check the venue’s age bands and what the ticket includes. Count adults and children separately if prices differ. Enter booking fees under other costs, and use the tax box only if your estimate does not already include admission tax.
Add the journey and the meal
Include parking or transit for everyone travelling. For food, choose a total based on your plan: bringing lunch, buying snacks, or eating a meal out. That choice often changes the comparison more than a small ticket discount.
Check optional extras
Look for equipment hire, lockers, required socks, or separate attractions. Put the items you expect to buy under other costs. An add-on is optional only if your group can enjoy the visit without it.
Compare two honest estimates
Calculate one outing, note the total, then enter the alternative with the same assumptions. Cost per person is a useful comparison, but the amount your household pays is the total. Confirm current prices with the venue before booking.
